Explore Satou Kichijoji Steak House

Satou Kichijoji Steak House, located at Japan, 〒180-0004 Tokyo, Musashino, Kichijoji Honcho, 1 Chome−1−8 吉祥寺さとう 2F, is a destination that steak lovers should keep firmly on their list when visiting Kichijoji. Tucked away on the second floor, this restaurant offers an intimate and lively dining experience where the seating is compact and close to the action, giving the space a warm, bustling character. One of its most appealing features is the chance to watch the chefs prepare each dish right in front of you, adding a sense of craftsmanship and anticipation to the meal. Satou is especially known for its exceptionally fresh beef, supported by the fact that the butcher shop downstairs is part of the same operation, which helps explain the impressive quality of the meat served here. The Matsuzaka wagyu and Wagyu set are particularly memorable choices, with richly marbled beef cooked teppanyaki-style and presented with great care. Every course is handled with attention, resulting in dishes that feel refined, indulgent, and deeply satisfying. Because the quality is so high, prices can be on the expensive side, so lunchtime is often the smartest time to visit for slightly better value while still enjoying the same excellent standard. The restaurant is also approachable for international visitors, with an English menu available and staff communication generally smooth, and credit cards are accepted for convenience. Guests should note that the staircase leading up is rather narrow and steep, which may be difficult for anyone with limited mobility. Since the ventilation is not especially strong, it is also common to leave with a lingering grilled aroma on your clothes, though many diners would say that is a small trade-off for such a flavorful and carefully prepared wagyu experience.

Great steak spot above a butcher shop. We had the 150g steak lunch set and it was very filling. The meat quality was excellent and cooked really well, and the salad served before the main was fresh and refreshing. The place is on the smaller side, but service is quick. It can get quite busy during peak hours.

Come here and try matsuzaka wagyu done teppanyaki style. Every course here is prepared well and is extremely delicious. Beef is so fresh because Satou owns a butchery just downstairs. Reservations a must. Beef of this quality is very pricey so I recommend coming at lunch where the menu prices are slightly cheaper.

The staircase is narrow, so be careful if you have mobility issues. You can watch the food being prepared, which is a nice touch. Tried the Wagyu set — truly excellent, very high quality.

Good quality Japanese steak house. Fresh cooked and you can enjoy watching your food preparation. Seating area are small and located on second floor. You have to climb to the restaurant so if you cannot move well please be careful. Ventilation is not quite good so you may got some grilled smell after your meal. English menu and communication with staffs are ok. Credit card is ok.

I've been back several times over about 5 years. The food is consistently of good quality. The restaurant focuses very strongly on the steak quality and it shows. There are no fancy culinary innvoations, just a good quality fut of meat and is sensitively cooked in salt and pepper. There are two sauces to accompany it, but that's it. Typically Japanese style, the steak is served with white rice. Tasty and perfectly done.

The beef is so juicy and delicious. The spice is tend to be on the mild side, so.it taste light.

10/10 2nd time I came here and the steaks are just as good. The premium cuts are more fatty but regular Wagyu are pretty good too. 150g is enough for 1 for the lunch portion but definitely come a bit before they open as there'll be a line and you'll be waiting around 30minutes to an hour.
